The hottest global carton board production capacit

  • Detail

The expansion of global carton board production capacity and the intensification of market weakness

a large number of new global carton board production capacity will be put into operation this year and next. The production of corrugated core board and carton board will increase by at least 6.048 million tons, which will greatly impact the already weak and more gorgeous appearance design and reassuring quality assurance market

from 2000 to 2002, a large number of new carton board and corrugated core board production in Europe will enter the market, with a total of 1.695 million tons, most of which are recycled products. Before that, all manufacturers said that they would restrain themselves from adding new production capacity, and at the end of last year, several manufacturers took measures to stop factories in order to maintain the balance of market supply and demand. However, recently, some manufacturers have expanded their production capacity by transforming their original equipment, and the number of newly built paper machines on the list is still increasing. There are two opposite opinions in the industry: one believes that when these paper machines fail to be online when they are started, it is estimated that the demand in the region will also increase, so there will be no major negative effect on the market. From 2001 to 2002, it is predicted that the annual growth rate of the demand for this kind of recycled carton board will be about 4%. Another believes that other regions also have new production capacity in the near future, and the increased production will make the market oversupply

relatively speaking, manufacturers in the United States favor reducing the production capacity of using thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Compared with the European region, the new capacity of the United States is much less, and the production plants are significantly reducing production. In the fourth quarter of last year, the United States closed its factories and reduced the production of cartons by 802000 tons, with a decrease of 827000 tons in the first quarter of this year. Since 1998, 19 paper machines have been shut down in the carton board industry in the United States, reducing production capacity by 3.5 million tons

Asia is the region with more frequent activities of new paper machines. From 2000 to 2002, at least 3.65 million tons of new cardboard production capacity in the region was put into operation, especially in China, which is vigorously increasing the production capacity of cardboard. It is estimated that its new increment will reach 2.835 million tons. Although it is limited to the production of recycled cardboard and other varieties, once the new production capacity is put into operation, China's production capacity can basically be self-sufficient

according to the recent prediction of the American Japanese risi Association, the growth rate of Asia last year was 6%, and the growth rate of the total demand for cartons this year will fall to less than 4%. Another concern is that with the substantial increase of new production capacity in Asia, especially in China, the import volume of cartons in Asian markets is expected to decline by 6% this year, equivalent to 200000 tons. These newly increased production capacity will also reduce the import volume of cartons in the Asian market from 2002 to 2003
